John F. Trotter II
Mr. Trotter is a co-founding Principal of Brockson Capital Partners. Mr. Trotter has a comprehensive background that includes operations, principal investing and investment banking advisory. His credentials include over $400 million in private investment transactions and presiding over four manufacturing companies. Additionally, he founded two technology start-ups
that grew into multi-million dollar concerns in less than five years, with successful exits that generated substantial returns to shareholders.
Prior to founding BCP, Mr. Trotter was associated with R D Capital in New York. He originated and completed nine acquisitions with R D Capital management as with an aggregate transaction value of $150MM. He is a specialist in the manufacturing and technology arenas, particularly computer hardware, semiconductors and MEMs. Mr. Trotter received his Master of Management from the Arizona State University, Business (BA) and Psychology (BS) degrees from Benedictine College.
Sterling P. Miles
Mr. Miles is an Associate of BCP, providing the firm with transaction screening and
due diligence of prospective clients. Mr. Miles comes to BCP from Meris Capital, where he acted as Director of
Business Development. He was responsible for conducting due diligence and initiating industry research programs for prospective clients. In addition, Mr. Miles played an integral role in developing and implementing various valuation analyses for the Meris Capital Fund, for which he also served as investor liaison.
Mr. Miles' past endeavors include work in both the pharmaceutical sales and corporate consulting industries. He graduated from The Thunderbird Graduate School of International Management in
1997, receiving a MBA in International Management with a concentration on Product Management and Finance. Mr. Miles obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Arizona in 1994.
William G. Meris
Mr. Meris is a Partner in BCP. He is responsible for strategically placing investments with growth companies that have the potential to earn superior returns for the BCP Fund and its investors. Prior to joining
BCP, Mr. Meris was the general partner of Meris Capital Partners, LP, a venture capital fund
based in Scottsdale, AZ. The Fund invested in early-stage growth companies with a focus on new technologies. Through his
experience in venture capital investing, Meris has successfully placed or raised over $40 million with private companies in the US and abroad. Since 1994, Mr. Meris has averaged an annual return on investment of 49% per year, well outperforming all indices during that time period.
Meris was involved in the structuring and financing of many early-stage growth companies. In addition to acquiring equity positions in a company, Meris often assumes a management role within the company. Prior to Meris Capital, Meris spent over five years with Prudential Securities, Inc. In addition to working in corporate finance and as a retail stockbroker, he also participated in a program in which he became a licensed, registered investment advisor. Meris received his bachelor of science in business administration from Arizona State University.
Brian J. Peterson
Mr. Peterson is an Associate of BCP, providing firm with
research and financial
analysis. Prior to joining Brockson Capital, Mr. Peterson was employed by Morgan Stanley as a registered securities representative and financial advisor. In addition, he is NASD certified, having obtained the Series 7, Series 66, and Series 31 licenses.
Mr. Peterson received his BS in Finance from Arizona State University.
Meilee Smythe
Ms. Smythe is a Partner with Brockson Capital and focuses on the firm’s investment strategy and investment banking execution activities. She has been a leading figure in the financial community for the past twenty years through several roles, most recently as Senior Vice President and Treasurer for
FINOVA, a $13 billion NYSE financial services company. During her thirteen-year tenure, she raised over $12 billion of debt and $500 million in equity in the public capital markets in the US, Europe and Japan.
Prior to FINOVA, Ms. Smythe spent eight years with Continental Illinois National Bank (now NationsBank) as a Vice President of corporate lending in the Southwest. She was responsible for sourcing, underwriting and negotiating corporate finance transactions involving a multitude of industries with a loan portfolio of over $750 million. Ms. Smythe received her MBA in Finance from the University of Southern California (USC), Los Angeles in 1981 and her BA in Economics and Biochemistry from University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 1979.
Christopher G. Whitson
Mr. Whitson is a Partner in BCP and provides investment origination activities and over 28 years of valuable operational expertise to portfolio companies. Mr. Whitson has a solid background in starting, operating and successfully exiting manufacturing and distribution businesses. Prior to joining
BCP, Mr. Whitson owned and operated a successful manufacturing and distribution company, which he sold to a financial buyer as part of a consolidation strategy. Previously, Mr. Whitson was President and owner of a manufacturing company with multiple manufacturing and distribution locations in the Western US. His investment background also includes retail and real estate ventures. Mr. Whitson received his business degree
(BBA) from the University of New Mexico.
